We had our first fundraiser at Zanies Comedy Club at Pheasant Run in St. Charles on Thursday May
14, 2009 and it was a huge success. When the evening was over, many of us commented on how our
cheek bones hurt from laughing so much. We had a 50/50 raffle that raised $550. The winners were
Peg & Don Swan and they generously gave their half of the money back to Field Of Dreams. Thank
you to Peg & Don. The headliner for the evening was Patti Vasquez who was absolutely incredible!!
A very special thank you to Cindi Nelson who is the manager of Zanies who generously donated 100%
of the ticket cost to FOD. Cindy and the entire staff were so helpful and encouraging to our cause.
Thank you Patti, Cindy, and the staff of Zanies for making this night a huge success. Thank you to
every one who attended and helped finance Izek's surgery. This is definitely going to be a yearly
event for us!

We want to thank the kids and teachers at McDole Elementary School in Montgomery for having a
school wide fundraising project, "Dimes for Donkeys". Their goal was to raise $600 to donate to Field
of Dreams. Well, they did better than that. They raised $625.82. first graders raised the most money,
so on Friday, May 15th, 2009 we loaded up our beloved donkey, Orlando, and headed to the school
for a visit. It was a rainy, but did not deter us or the first graders from having a wonderful meeting. It
was a day they surely will never forget, and a kindness & generosity from the kids & teachers we will
never forget. Thank you McDole Elementary!!

Thank you to Geneva Girl Scout Troop #978 for visiting on Saturday, May 16th. They came to visit
the horses and donated $100, a Wal-mart Gift Card, a large package of toilet paper & paper towels,
kitty litter and of course plenty of carrots. They heard stories about all the horses and were able to
brush Rio and our beloved donkey Orlando. On behalf of the horses – thank you for visiting and
donating all the items!!

A HUGE thank you to all of you who donated items to the garage sale, worked the event at some
point during the three days or stopped by and shopped. After all expenses were deducted, the
garage sale made over $2700 for Field of Dreams!! Not bad considering we had only two items
priced in the $50 range and the rest were smaller items priced well below that amount. It is truly
amazing how a dollar here and a dollar there can add up to something significant. Once again, our
volunteers helped make this fundraiser an enormous success and we truly thank you!

A very special “thank you” to Polly Rerko who purchased the Field of Dreams Day Picnic at our 2008 fall fundraiser.
Polly and her guests came to the barn on August 15th, 2009 for a day filled with horses and stories. They were able to
go out into the pastures, meet the horses and hear all of their heartwarming stories. We also had a wonderful picnic
on the lawn. Rio, who was adopted by Sue Balla, gave "pony rides" to everyone who came to FOD. It's wonderful
people like Polly who come to our yearly fall fundraiser who make us a success. Thank you Polly!
