TJ came to FOD on 4/1/08 with a wonderful disposition. He came to us from Hawthorn
Racetrack where he could no longer run due to an injury. The vet at the racetrack said he
needed 6 months off to heal and would then be ride-able. Our vet checked all the x-rays and
with the time off, he is now completely recovered. He has quickly become the favorite for
many of our volunteers and loves the attention he is getting. TJ will make someone a great life
long companion for pleasure riding or the show ring. He is a charm to be around. We are
planning on starting to work him on Nov. 1 and will keep everyone posted. Please let us know
if you have any interest in TJ to be a life long companion.

Arthur arrived at FOD on 3/16/07. He came from a wonderful couple who dearly cared
about him. They were newcomers to the horse world and fell in love with Arthur and
purchased him. They came to learn a hard lesson that all horse people are not honest. A
few days after they purchased him in August, he came up lame and has been lame since.
Apparently Arthur was drugged so as not to show his lameness. They had tried to do what
was best for the horse and had him x-rayed and found out his hocks are fusing. They had
moved him to a barn closer to where a chiropractor could work on him regularly. After a few
months both the chiropractor and barn owner thought he would never get better. His
wonderful owners called us to see if we could help him instead of putting him down as
suggested. He came to us and his body was a mess. Due to whatever the first owner had
done, King Arthur came in with severe problems. All his muscles were locked and his back
and legs were sore with no flexibility. Now, he has made some major improvements and can
bend hid knees. Arthur still has a ways to go but is improving gradually with the help and
love and MANY volunteers. Arthur is our true Denise-the-Menise and everyone loves his
cocky personality – it is what made him survive through his first owner that rode him into the
ground.

Jasper came to us on 6/16/07. During his birth, he swallowed amniotic fluid and nearly died.
The owners of the barn spent a lot of time and effort saving his life. Jasper’s owner spent a
lot of time and money to get him healed but he could not be raced so he was free to a good
home. We received the call from Lisa at the Virgil Vet Clinic and we were more than willing to
do what it took to help—but you have to have the funds to buy what he would need to get him
healthy. A plea was put on the Friends of Barbaro website by Tim Woolley and thanks to the
generosity of many who have donated, we were able to bring him to Field of Dreams. He has
received the much needed herbal supplements to get his lungs back to health. He was scoped
and his condition is classified as a roarer. This effects the amount of air he can take in and
causes a noise when he runs around that sounds like Darth Vador. This is not something that
is slowing him down as he is the most active horse in the pastures. He is a healthy, strong,
sound, large three year old thoroughbred that should be 17 hands when he is done growing.
He will not be able to be ridden hard enough to ever be a show horse. He does have a bit of a
Denise-the-Menace personality which we all love. He will make a great pleasure/trail horse
and friend for some lucky person who wants a life long buddy.

Ginger Morgan 25 years Mare
Ginger came to us two days after she was attacked by 5 shepherd dogs
leaving her body filled with acute wounds and lacerations. We cleansed and
applied medicine to her sores twice a day for a couple of months. The healing
process was slow but Ginger is now enjoying the companionship of the other
mares at FOD and the twinkle is back in her eyes.
